At LONG LAST: Conkey Corner Park Gets A Playground Saturday September 18th

Conkey Corner Park, a project of the Genesee Land Trust and the City of Rochester will get a playground when the community comes out to build it together on Saturday, September 18th from 9 AM until completed.  Genesee Land Trust received funding for this corner park addition from the City of Rochester, Rochester Area Community Foundation, and Greater Rochester Health Association.

Genesee Land Trust has partnered on this project with Coalition of North East Associations, Inc., Group 14621, Healthy Kids, Ibero American Development Corporation and Project Hope. Other area associations are sending volunteers, including many college students, to help with the installation of the playground.

The Community Build of Conkey Corner Park will begin at 9 AM and will continue until done, approximately 4 PM.   A cookout for the volunteers is planned for approximately 2 PM and T-shirts will be distributed. This event takes place rain or shine!

The official ribbon-cutting of the playground, which will include Mayor Duffy, is scheduled for October 8th with more details TBA.

Genesee Land Trust is the Rochester area’s local land preservation organization. Gay Mills is the Executive Director.
