Genesee Land Trust Awarded $15,000 in Grant Funding From HSBC Bank

Genesee Land Trust is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of grant funding from HSBC Bank in the amount of $15,000. Funding will be used to develop and build a new website for the local non-profit organization.

HSBC embraces the principle that corporate responsibility is vital to the success of a company. Its philanthropic strategy is focused primarily on two critical issues: education and the environment. Locally, HSBC has supported the Rochester-based land preservation organization since 2002.  In 2007, it named Genesee Land Trust one of 11 charities nationwide as recipient of its “There’s No Small Change” green campaign, awarding the Trust $90,000.

The 2010 grant funding ($15,000) brings the cumulative support since 2002 to a total of $190,000. HSBC is the largest single corporate supporter of Genesee Land Trust. Gay Mills, Executive Director, speaking on behalf of the Trust, said, “Because of the historic support of HSBC, Genesee Land Trust can better serve the community of greater Rochester. We are very grateful.”

Genesee Land Trust was founded in 1989 and protects over 3200 acres of woods, wetlands, waterways, farmland, and urban green pockets. Nearly 1000 families in the Greater Rochester area are members of Genesee Land Trust.
