Penfield Road Conservation Easement

Size:

5 acres

Location:

Town of Penfield, Monroe County

Description:

Extends from Penfield Rd to Allen’s Creek. A small field extending to a mature, mixed hardwood forest on a steeply sloped ravine along the Allen’s Creek floodplain.

History:

Conservation easement donated by Peter Lyman in 2000. Mr. Lyman desired his land to remain an oasis amidst dense surrounding development to “preserve the wildlife aspect.”

Mr. Lyman: “I didn’t want construction and roads; I treasure wildlife and think they get the raw end of the deal. They get shut out and can’t vote.”

Public Access:

Although Genesee Land Trust occasionally invites members on outings to a conservation easement property with the owner’s consent, conservation easement properties remain private property and therefore no public access is permitted.
