Help save Deer Creek Woods for birds, climate, water…and you!

Join 250+ people and families who have already donated to save this special place.

You can protect critical wildlife habitats and secure inclusive public access to nature - forever!

Thanks to a generous supporter, if 50 7 more people donate by the end of September they will contribute $5,000! Gifts of any size count.

Protect and Connect Critical Habitats

You have a rare opportunity to save Deer Creek Woods - a very special place that’s vulnerable to development. Unless action is taken now, countless birds, plants and wildlife could lose their home.

Your support will help Genesee Land Trust purchase 53 acres of woods, meadow, and creek to create a new public preserve with trails and boardwalks accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

Just east of the Town of Webster, close to Lake Ontario, we’ve already protected adjacent private land. Adding Deer Creek Woods will create a large 272-acre block of undeveloped wildlife habitat - protected forever.

Will you join a growing community of people that care about the local animals, plants, and people affected by climate change?

How does this land help wildlife…and you?

Natural lands – especially woodlands and wetlands like Deer Creek Woods – help keep our air and waters clean by absorbing pollutants and soaking up floodwaters.

  • The diversity of habitats and size of protected space provides a climate-resilient home for birds, butterflies, and other local wildlife.

  • Preserving trees helps address climate change by capturing carbon from the air.

  • Keeping land healthy is good for all of us - people AND wildlife!

  • This will become our 18th preserve, an accessible outdoor destination for recreation and relaxation. Time in nature has proven health benefits for all.

Why Deer Creek Woods?

  • The land contains a rich variety of habitats that wildlife call home.

  • It is critically vulnerable to housing development.

  • Tens of thousands of migrating birds visit this beautiful place every year.

  • The woods share a boundary with other lands we protect, making it a rare and important opportunity to expand contiguous forest.

  • Its proximity to countless residents will make this an outdoor destination for connecting to nature, and each other.
