Genesee Land Trust uses a special tool to conserve significant private lands—from natural habitats to family farms—in partnership with landowners who will care for and manage the land. Ideal for lands that provide habitats important for wildlife and for working lands, this tool is known as a conservation easement. It is a voluntary and perpetual agreement that keeps the land from being developed. Other restrictions vary depending on the type of land protected.
