Farmland Protection Information Session

  • VFW Post 6105 550 Peck Road Hilton, NY, 14468 United States (map)

Are you a farmer or farmland owner interested in protecting your farm for generations to come? Would you like to get some of the financial value out of your land, while maintaining ownership and agricultural usage?

Genesee Land Trust is hosting an information session on the upcoming New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets Farmland Protection Implementation Grant at the VFW Post 6105.

The Farmland Protection Program protects agricultural land through Conservation Easements with the Purchase of Development Rights (PDR). It is a multi-year process, and grant applications are anticipated to open next year. Now is a good time to start discussing what’s possible for your farm.

If you’re interested, please fill out this form and email it to Amanda Grisa, Farmland Protection Manager, at agrisa@geneseelandtrust.org.

Conservation Easements allow landowners like you to be sure that your productive farmland will not grow houses in the future. Every conservation easement is unique to the farm, and Genesee Land Trust works very closely with individual farmers to support their vision for the future of their farm.

To date, Genesee Land Trust has helped 18 family farms sell the development rights to their land and permanently protect it as working farmland. You can view a list of them here. We have 10 additional farm protection grant projects in progress.
