On a day when many people head inside, take a break and join us for some fresh air and birding at our recently opened Salmon Creek Nature Preserve in Hilton. All ages and birding experience welcome.
With a variety of habitats, including a pond, creek and wildflower meadow, there are many birds in the water, trees, grass and air. More than 110 species have already been documented on site!
Amy Kahn and Neal Reilly from the Rochester Birding Association will lead the walk and alert us to the many birds that call this preserve home.
The 1.5 miles of trails are wide, grassy and mostly flat (a slight incline down to the creek). The trails may be a bit bumpy but are navigable by wheel if the ground is dry. There are 3 benches around the property. Learn more about Salmon Creek Nature Preserve and get a map here.
We recommend you wear layers and sturdy shoes. Please bring a water bottle and binoculars if you have them. We have a few pairs to share. There is no bathroom on site.
There’s a small parking lot at the preserve and a larger NYS DEC parking lot ¼ mile north. If you choose to park along the side of the road, please do not park too close to the preserve parking lot so drivers pulling onto the road can do so safely.
