Free Fishing Lesson

  • Salmon Creek Nature Preserve 492 Bennett Road Parma, NY, 14468 United States (map)

Join Genesee Land Trust friends and experienced fishing guides for a morning of fishing lessons at Salmon Creek Nature Preserve. All ages and experience levels very welcome, from first-time ever to experienced anglers.

A small number of fishing poles will be available for those who don’t have one. Please note if you need to borrow one when you sign up.

Accessibility: A limited number of camping chairs will be available at the fishing spot(s). The trail to the creek is wide, grassy, and mostly flat with a small decline to the creek. There is limited shade along the creek - the rest of the preserve is very sunny. Off-street parking is a gravel lot of about 10 spaces with a split-rail fence. There is no bathroom on site, but a Tops Market is a 5-minute drive away.

You can learn more about Salmon Creek Nature Preserve here.

This is a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation free fishing day, meaning anyone who is 16 and older can fish without a freshwater fishing license or recreational marine fishing registration (people younger than 16 can always fish for free!). For more information on free fishing days and some great YouTube videos on fishing visit the NYSDEC website here.
