Thanks to a tremendous effort from Genesee Land Trust staff and volunteers, about 3,500 tree saplings and shrubs were planted at Cornwall Preserve in April and early May. The mix of native species - including White Pine, Red Oak. Black Chokeberry, and Winged Sumac - will replace dead Ash trees and increase biodiversity.
The planting completes a multi-year effort to restore 3 acres of wetlands.
The next phase of work moves to Macyville Woods in Sodus Point this summer. Thank you for making this work possible.
