River Birding at Turning Point Park

  • Turning Point Park 260 Boxart Street Rochester, NY, 14612 United States (map)

Genesee River Alliance invites you to join us for our next event on Saturday, May 25th! We’ll take a walk with Loretta Morrell from Genesee Valley Audubon Society and learn about the many interesting birds that live along the Genesee River at Turning Point Park.

Come enjoy the river views and local wildlife – we might see swans, blue herons, purple martins, catbirds, orioles, and osprey. The walk will include the 3,572-foot boardwalk that's built right over the river and connects to a land-based trail along an old railroad bed. We’ll also explore the surrounding "Bullocks Woods" while looking for more birds.

This is a guided family-friendly event. All ages and abilities are encouraged to join us. Please be prepared for a hill down to the river. The paved trail includes a long gentler slope or a short but steep option. Strollers are welcome, and an ASL interpreter is available upon request.

Please bring binoculars if you have them - we will have some available for loan.

The walk starts at 9:30 am. Each walk is approximately 60 minutes, and there are 35 spots available.

Parking is available in the parking lot at 260 Boxart Street. Please contact Helen Dumas at hdumas@geneseelandtrust.org with any questions.
